Emprise awarded top marks from the University of Sussex
~ innovative approach with intelligent cleaning leads to three-year contract ~
The University of Sussex has deployed Emprise Services plc's cleaning function across 34 of its buildings on campus. The agreement was made following Emprise's successful introduction of intelligent cleaning at the University.
The contract will cover over one million square feet and includes laboratories, the library, lecture theatres, sports centres, a creche, and a number of offices and associated common areas. Zonal cleaning has led to selected areas being cleaned less frequently after proving efficient and successful in trials. Core and communal areas are now being maintained daily and office areas are cleaned weekly or fortnightly all year round.
"The University now has five schools and almost 15,000 students and staff. Keeping the university buildings clean while remaining under budget is no mean feat," said Andy Jupp Assistant Facilities Director at the University of Sussex. "Having successfully trialled Emprise's zonal cleaning approach, our intention is to roll out this strategy across a large percentage of the campus to secure significant cost-savings for the University.
"The University of Sussex has been a client since 2002, but the contract has been renewed due to the way we have revolutionised its cleaning processes," commented Michael Garrett, Managing Director at Emprise. "Zonal cleaning has proved invaluable for the University by enabling resources to be allocated more intelligently. Efficiency savings are of the utmost importance in the education sector and this approach helps relieve this pain-point for the University."
To manage and maintain standards, the University is also introducing the Emprise Audit System, which uses PDAs to capture data detailing the cleanliness of the site, which is then transmitted to PCs via a cellular network. The client will be able to view the results of the audit data online securely via a password-protected site
