Emprise employees kept in certified safe hands
~ commitment to employee health and safety recognised with OHSAS 18001:2007 certification ~
Emprise Services plc has been awarded the OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational Health & Safety Management System certification following a rigorous week-long assessment.
The certification provides the basis for national standards on occupational health and is recognised in over 80 countries worldwide. Emprise has achieved the certification in light of its commitment to occupational health and safety standards, and for providing a safe working environment for its employees.
Emprise is one of the UK's largest support service providers, employing over 5,000 employees across a broad range of support roles - principally cleaning and security.
The OHSAS 18001 certification highlighted several steps recently taken by Emprise to ensure best practice for its staff, including an Investors in People accreditation, the introduction of Suzie Lamplugh Trust training, and the use of personal alarms. The report also recognised the four-day IOSH Managing Safely course Emprise offers to all operational managers.
"The certification was particularly important to us because of its strong emphasis on readdressing employee health and safety issues," said David Congalton, business support manager at Emprise. "We've been able to put in place an ongoing review and improvement strategy, to make sure we continually develop our policies to best suit our employees."
Congalton added: "The assessment allowed us to audit our occupational health and safety procedures. We were able to demonstrate a low potential for accidents, compliance with recent legislation and a high level of overall performance."
