CSR

Our approach to Corporate Social Responsibility reflects the need to combine individual ambition, community goals and environmental awareness

Within Emprise, our people continue to be our principal asset, with Health and Safety a top priority.

A comprehensive portfolio of policies, procedures and management guidelines has been approved by the Board, adopted by our operating divisions and embraced throughout the Company. This ensures a fair and consistent approach.

These policies are introduced at recruitment stage, developed through induction and reinforced through each individual's career. The message is clear, constant and unequivocal.

The "Investor in People" standard is now formally recognised and embraced throughout Emprise. Individuals are encouraged to take advantage of all opportunities to build their careers and contribute to the future of the Company, integrating personal ambition with delivery to our clients.

An example of this in practice can be found at our contract with the British Library where Emprise was contacted by Merton college and asked if they would like to participate in a fully funded project aimed at improving the English language, literacy and numeracy of cleaning operatives and undertaking a National Vocational Qualification in Cleaning Building Interiors at the same time. Emprise decided to offer the training when Merton tailored the qualifications to the specifics of the work carried out within the British Library and they were delighted with the positive results. At the end of the project Emprise had a total of 30 employees who had successfully completed and passed the basic skills qualifications and NVQs. Following the successful NVQ programme at the Library this programme has, and is being, continued throughout the organisation.

A robust, centralised Health and Safety structure offers advice and support to each of our operating divisions through the Business Support Team. All managers receive Health and Safety awareness training and regular refresher courses encourage "Best Practice".

Further training is conducted at site level with regular 'tool box' talks ensuring safe working practices are adopted.

Effective communication across the Group is achieved through a number of different media. These include a quarterly news bulletin issued to all employees and a regular update of new starters. Team briefings also provide a consistent message and regular updates on developments across the Group.
